Sukiyaki Western Django

Mar 2 2009

Sukiyaki Western Django is my first Takashi Miike film. It was an odd mishmash: a spaghetti western in feudal Japan, Japanese actors speaking English dialogue and Quentin Tarantino popping up periodically with a different accent each scene. That said, the cinematography is stellar and the story played out nicely. It was not an amazing movie, but it was off kilter and enjoyable. You're not going to see a movie like this coming out of the United States any time soon.
