One New Egg order, a UPS shipment, a new video card installation, a driver update, a resolution change and we're at 1680x1050. One thing I definitely notice right off the bat is how crisp everything is on this screen. I definitely recommend the 2007WFP monitors from Dell. comments

I saw a greenish, glowing ball of light fly across I-85 on my way home last night. It split into two pieces and then faded away. Most people seemed skeptical my story, however, I'm happy to report I wasn't the only person in Charlotte who reported this mysterious incident. comments

I accidentally missed the first two hours of 24 tonight! I thought it was a Monday-Tuesday 4-hour premiere!

In between scouring the internet for episodes from the forthcoming premiere DVD, I caught Demetri Martin: Person on Comedy Central. I highly recommend it for a good laugh. He's definitely honed the art of the one-liner. Time will tell if he can sustain the clever observations.

As many have noticed, Windows Vista is supporting Martin. In between each segment, Windows aired commericals for The Institute of Advanced Personhood and Clearification. That Clearification site is well done. comments

Aside from one inexcusable line, Rocky Balboa was good. It was everything a Rocky movie should be, complete with "hurt bombs." The theme song still makes me smile.

I rented Lady In The Water and Jackass 2 this past weekend. Lady In The Water was nothing to write home about, but Jackass 2 was so far and above the first movie it's ridiculous. Highly recommended, if you enjoyed Jackass at all. comments

I almost, almost didn't go see Cursive last night at Tremont, but I'm glad I did. Tremont was packed to the gills, Tim Kasher was noticeably moved by size of the crowd and the opening bands were great.

The Cops could easily be described as the second coming of The Clash. There's definitely a little Ted Leo vibe to them as well, but I kept hoping they might just cover "Clampdown" if I thought hard enough about it.

Former Sunny Day Real Estate frontman, Jeremy Enigk played second and lulled everyone to sleep. His solo stuff is great, but following The Cops and preceding Cursive is not the time for emotional slow-jams.

By the time Cursive came on, the big room was as packed as I've ever seen it. Tim Kasher was in top form. The set ended with about 20-30 people from the crowd on stage singing "The Lament of Pretty Baby" and "Red-Handed Sleight of Hand." In other words, an amazing show. comments

Just arrived home from the ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, The Blood Brothers, Celebration show. I have to say none of the acts were completely satisfying tonight, but Celebration came the closest.

For some odd reason, they started the whole show 30 minutes before scheduled. That meant I missed Brothers and Sisters, who sounded good from the parking lot. The new Blood Brothers songs were a blur, since I have yet to actually listen to Young Machetes. Trail of Dead's set ended with a whimper instead of the usual insanity. All in all, a pleasurable experience, but not a memorable one. comments

Radiohead has posted some new studio shots on Dead Air Space. Oddly, the first image is of Nigel Godrich navigating a mess of cable, despite the fact that last year Radiohead said they weren't working with him any longer. I think if there's a chance the US will have a black president any time soon that chance rests squarely only the shoulders of Barack Obama. While I'd definitely like to see him run and he's already got my vote, I hope he waits until 2012. I'd like to see McCain and then Obama, which would move the country back to a more moderate balance. I think we've seen that moving too far left or right has undesirable consequences. comments

Apparently, the Bush adminstration and Republican party decided this election year that the easiest way to get out of being accountable for their mistakes is to blame the Democratic party and Bill Clinton. I don't blindly support decisions made by either party, but passing the buck is just lame. Have some backbone, take responsibility. comments
