Amy, Cooper and I had a fun time at the park on Saturday afternoon. I took a lot of pictures of Cooper with Amy's new camera. She uploaded several of them to Flickr. I was messing with the film speed and some of them got a little washed out. I'll know better next time. ![]()
The new Battles track is crazy and weird. I love it. ![]()
I'm excited for the return of Lost. Amy signed us for digital cable, so no more commercials! ![]()
One New Egg order, a UPS shipment, a new video card installation, a driver update, a resolution change and we're at 1680x1050. One thing I definitely notice right off the bat is how crisp everything is on this screen. I definitely recommend the 2007WFP monitors from Dell. ![]()
Infinite Solutions with Mark Erickson is very informative. ![]()
The new Luc Besson movie, Angel-A, seems like it'll be decent. It's not mind blowing, but maybe the trailer isn't revealing all there is to be revealed. ![]()
I saw a greenish, glowing ball of light fly across I-85 on my way home last night. It split into two pieces and then faded away. Most people seemed skeptical my story, however, I'm happy to report I wasn't the only person in Charlotte who reported this mysterious incident. ![]()
Danny Boyle's new movie, Sunshine, looks like it's going to be amazing. ![]()
Anyone out there with a Last.fm account use the Last.fm software? Is it worth it? Can you minimize it to the system tray now? ![]()
I accidentally missed the first two hours of 24 tonight! I thought it was a Monday-Tuesday 4-hour premiere!
In between scouring the internet for episodes from the forthcoming premiere DVD, I caught Demetri Martin: Person on Comedy Central. I highly recommend it for a good laugh. He's definitely honed the art of the one-liner. Time will tell if he can sustain the clever observations.
As many have noticed, Windows Vista is supporting Martin. In between each segment, Windows aired commericals for The Institute of Advanced Personhood and Clearification. That Clearification site is well done. ![]()
The majority of Studiobanks should be attending the AIGA Charlotte event tonight at the Neighborhood Theatre. Thomas Romer from The Chopping Block will be speaking about his work and life as a designer. ![]()
Aside from one inexcusable line, Rocky Balboa was good. It was everything a Rocky movie should be, complete with "hurt bombs." The theme song still makes me smile.
I rented Lady In The Water and Jackass 2 this past weekend. Lady In The Water was nothing to write home about, but Jackass 2 was so far and above the first movie it's ridiculous. Highly recommended, if you enjoyed Jackass at all. ![]()
Intype Alpha is available for download. Super lightweight and looks amazingly clean and simple for Windows software. This app needs some attention, that's for sure. ![]()
I thoroughly enjoyed a pint of Racer 5 IPA at Against The Grain in New York earlier in December. It was the best IPA I've ever tasted. I was just thinking about how I could get my hands on some more and was reminded I never mentioned it here. ![]()
The new Kim Jones Umbro collection is pretty nice. I haven't thought about Umbro since high school, but I might have to get a pair of those high tops. ![]()
Looks like I have a weekend project! ![]()
Nintendo of America, this idea needs to make its way west. ![]()
Buggy Saints Row: The Musical from Cabel Sasser is a thing of beauty. ![]()
The new Camera Finder feature on Flickr is quite helpful. It's good to see them continually making Flickr more and more useful. Coincidentally, I was reading an interview with Caterina Fake tonight. ![]()
Amy and I are off to the mountains in about 8 hours for the first round of Christmas with the Maney clan. It's always fun to hang out with the family. I will have to make an effort to take pictures this year. For some odd reason, no one ever does. ![]()
Parallels "coherency mode" has got to be the weirdest thing I've seen in a while. As wrong as it looks, that's just sickeningly convenient. We need to upgrade to Mac Pros and Parallels at work... like Monday. ![]()
Amy and I got up around 6:30am this morning and drove over to Super Target in Kannapolis. Luckily, Target had 51 consoles to sell and we were 21st and 22nd in line. Long story short, I got a Wii! ![]()
I almost, almost didn't go see Cursive last night at Tremont, but I'm glad I did. Tremont was packed to the gills, Tim Kasher was noticeably moved by size of the crowd and the opening bands were great.
The Cops could easily be described as the second coming of The Clash. There's definitely a little Ted Leo vibe to them as well, but I kept hoping they might just cover "Clampdown" if I thought hard enough about it.
Former Sunny Day Real Estate frontman, Jeremy Enigk played second and lulled everyone to sleep. His solo stuff is great, but following The Cops and preceding Cursive is not the time for emotional slow-jams.
By the time Cursive came on, the big room was as packed as I've ever seen it. Tim Kasher was in top form. The set ended with about 20-30 people from the crowd on stage singing "The Lament of Pretty Baby" and "Red-Handed Sleight of Hand." In other words, an amazing show. ![]()
Just arrived home from the ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, The Blood Brothers, Celebration show. I have to say none of the acts were completely satisfying tonight, but Celebration came the closest.
For some odd reason, they started the whole show 30 minutes before scheduled. That meant I missed Brothers and Sisters, who sounded good from the parking lot. The new Blood Brothers songs were a blur, since I have yet to actually listen to Young Machetes. Trail of Dead's set ended with a whimper instead of the usual insanity. All in all, a pleasurable experience, but not a memorable one. ![]()
Seattle has always been high on the short list of places I'd like to live. That is until they unveiled their new slogan: Metronatural. I'll let you all individually appreciate it in your own way. They even trademarked it! ![]()
Can I just say Prison Break is kicking ass this season. ![]()
Make sure you get your "I Voted" sticker before the polls close. ![]()
IEEE Spectrum has a feature on Firefox co-creator Blake Ross. Apparently, he's working on a project called Parakey that will "help people store and share their creations online." ![]()
I think I'm going to have to get one of the new iPod Shuffles. I might wait until they package them with the new headphones. ![]()
As someone with a great deal of interest in the future of PHP, I'm glad to see that Microsoft is interested in working with Zend to ensure PHP performance improves on Window servers. I'm not an advocate of either platform. As long as PHP and MySQL work the way they were designed to work, I'm happy. ![]()
